The official biopic of late Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu J jayalalithaa titled Thalaivi start rolling today. Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is on  the board to essay the role of J Jayalalithaa whereas  Arvind Swami has been roped in to reprise legendary politician MG Ramachandran aka MGR in the biopic. Today the makers of Thalaivi released the first look poster of Arvind Swami as MGR. The amazing transformation of Arvind Swami is giving shock to everyone as he is seen in clean shaven look in the first look poster of Thalaivi.

The retelling of J Jayalalithaa‘ life will be incomplete without a mention of the late actor-politician MGR, as he was popularly known. The former chief minister of Tamil Nadu had played an integral role in Jayalalithaa political innings.

MGR and Jayalalithaa worked together in 28 box-office hits between 1965 and 1973.  The sources say that the makers needed a worthy actor to do justice to his role, another criterion was that the artiste is fluent in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Arvind Swami satisfied both criteria and the makers roped him to essay the role of MGR.

AL Vijay’ directorial venture will shed light on how MGR became her mentor as Jayalalithaa forayed into politics through his party, AIADMK.

The biopic of J Jayalalithaa starring Kangana Ranaut and Arvind Swami, is  co-written by Baahubali writer KV Vijayendra Prasad and Rajat Arora.  KV Vijayendra Prasad  is one who has penned the story of Baahubali series and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.

Thalaivi is produced By vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shailesh R Singh. Renowned makeup artist Jason Collins, who had worked in Hollywood movies namely, Blade Runner and Captain Marvel is working on Thalaivi and helping Kangana Ranaut to get the look right. The film will be made in three languages – Telugu, Tamil and Hindi It will also release simultaneously in all three languages.

Arvind Swami was introduced as an actor by Mani Ratnam with the film Thalapathi.  His popular movies are Roja, Bombay, Minsaara Kanavu Thani Oruvan, Bogan and Chekka Chivantha Vaanam.
